Living Touch Shiatsu Logo

“After series of Shiatsu treatments from Diana, I felt more relaxed than I had done for years. I felt more able to cope with the challenge of staying off drink. I saw a clearer way towards my goals.” - R. 47, recovering alcohol user

Shiatsu is a popular therapy in public and voluntary sector projects

Shiatsu fact: Evaluation of an NHS women’s drug and alcohol service showed that 30% of clients who continued using the service did so primarily because complementary therapies, including Shiatsu, were offered.

Increasing numbers of publicly funded health and wellbeing projects are integrating Shiatsu into their services. These include drug and alcohol services, domestic violence services, centres for palliative care and cancer treatment centres.

Why is Shiatsu so easy to integrate?

  • It is non-invasive and is performed through the clothes
  • It can be performed on a mat, with no need for expensive beds or equipment
  • The Shiatsu treatment can be adapted to suit a wide variety of health conditions

How I work within the public and voluntary sector

I work with health and social work professionals in multidisciplinary teams and have found that Shiatsu can be a very powerful way to assist clients in addressing the complex issues that affect their lives as well as finding relief from ongoing problems such as chronic pain, anxiety and addiction.

Clients

I have worked with a range of organisations including Hammersmith and Fulham NHS Primary Care Trust, The Broadway Centre, The Healing Tent, WestFocus Health Network and City Roads Crisis Centre.
